Research & Academic Exploration 🔬

My passion for neuroscience, mental health, and medicine has led me to engage in research programs, shadowing experiences, and advanced coursework. From studying toddler mental development to clinical neuroscience, I continuously seek opportunities to deepen my understanding of the human brain and its impact on mental and physical well-being.

ResearcH PAPERS

Novel Treatments For Alzheimer's Disease

The research paper "A Review of the Novel Treatments for Alzheimer's Disease (AD)"] was presented at the Mission College's Summer Research Symposium exploring the different treatments that can be considered for Alzheimer's Disease.  Although Alzheimer's Disease is still incurable there are many novel treatments that are currently under research  to improve the brain function.

Research Paper

Chemogenetics As A Tool To Understand Drug Abuse

In the paper "A Review On Chemogenetics As A Tool To Understand Drug Abuse",  the focus was on the application of chemogenetics as a tool for investigating the neurobiological mechanisms underlying drug abuse. The paper provided a comprehensive overview of the technique and its potential applications in the field of addiction research. Additionally, the review highlights the benefits and limitations of using chemogenetics to study drug abuse, offering insights into the potential of this method for advancing our understanding of addiction.

I enrolled in college-level neuroscience courses, gaining insights into cognitive growth, brain development, and learning processes. These courses deepened my knowledge of how the brain adapts to environmental and psychological influences.

💡 Key Learnings

  • Explored neurodevelopmental disorders, including autism, ADHD, and learning disabilities.
  • Studied language acquisition, neuroplasticity, and the impact of trauma on brain function.
  • Analyzed early childhood cognitive growth and behavioral psychology.

Central Michigan University – CampMED Virtual Camp (Scholarship-Based)

📍 Institution: Central Michigan University
📅 Duration: Summer 2022

As a scholarship-based participant in CampMED, I explored medical careers through a virtual experience that focused on healthcare, medical research, and clinical practice. The camp allowed me to gain exposure to the diverse fields of medicine, including pediatrics, neurology, and emergency medicine.

💡 Key Takeaways

  • Participated in interactive workshops and simulations designed to introduce medical practice and clinical techniques.
  • Explored medical research, public health issues, and diagnostic processes across various specialties.
  • Engaged in discussions with doctors, researchers, and healthcare professionals, deepening my understanding of the medical field's challenges and innovations.

I was selected to attend a scholarship-based virtual camp organized by Central Michigan University's CampMED, where I had the privilege of participating in virtual medical case studies and a comprehensive virtual anatomy lab experience. The two-day program provided a unique opportunity to connect with medical professionals and learn from their vast knowledge and experience in the field. This experience was invaluable to me as it deepened my understanding of the medical profession and further fueled my passion to pursue a career in this field.

Columbia University - Fundamentals of Neuroscience Pre-College Summer Program

📍 Institution: Columbia University
📅 Duration: Summer 2022

This intensive neuroscience course covered brain structure, neurochemical pathways, and neurological disorders. I explored the biological basis of behavior, including memory formation, learning processes, and neurodegenerative diseases.

💡 Key Takeaways

  • Studied synaptic transmission, neural circuits, and brain plasticity.
  • Analyzed mental health disorders such as schizophrenia, depression, and PTSD.
  • Conducted simulated research and clinical case studies on neurological conditions.

I had the opportunity to participate in a 3-week summer program at Columbia University, where I expanded my knowledge about neural processes and mechanisms. The program offered insightful discussions on the latest theories on attention, memory, and consciousness, providing me with a deeper understanding of the subject matter. In addition, I was given the opportunity to present a paper on the effects of methamphetamine use on the adolescent brain, allowing me to showcase my research and communication skills.

This experience was invaluable to me, as it allowed me to learn from and interact with experts in the field, gain hands-on experience, and make meaningful connections with peers who share similar interests. It has further solidified my passion for neuroscience, and I am eager to continue pursuing this field through further education and research.
