I’m Diya Dipak, a high school student with a keen interest in neuroscience, medicine, and community service. My journey has been shaped by a blend of academic achievements, leadership roles, and hands-on experiences in diverse fields like mental health, theater, and volunteering. I believe in making a difference by combining knowledge with action, and I'm eager to continue learning and growing to create lasting impact.
As a high school student at BASIS Independent School, I am particularly focused on neuroscience and mental health fields that fascinate me for their potential to revolutionize our understanding of the mind and behavior. I’ve had the privilege of completing pre-college programs at Columbia University and Johns Hopkins, deepening my knowledge in neuroscience and the medical field. I also engage in dual enrollment programs and shadowing experiences, where I gain invaluable exposure to real-world clinical environments and learn from esteemed professionals.
In addition to my academic pursuits, I am deeply involved in volunteering. As the President of my school’s Red Cross Club and Northern California Youth Ambassador & Volunteer Partner for the American Red Cross, I lead initiatives that impact thousands of youth volunteers across Northern California. I’ve also received multiple Congressional Awards & Presidential Volunteer Service Awards, including the Gold Medal, for my service in areas such as disaster relief, youth advocacy, and health education. My work has taught me the power of empathy, teamwork, and perseverance, and I am committed to continuing my journey as a community leader and advocate for social change.
Beyond my academic and volunteer work, I also have a deep love for the arts. I have achieved Level 9 in piano and have performed at various state-level competitions. My passion for theater has also led me to take on lead roles in public theater plays, where I was nominated for Best Actor. These creative outlets allow me to express my ideas, develop new skills, and collaborate with talented individuals in the arts community.
